The year ahead...
... may become a challenging one - following the augurs in the Western Press.
However it may turn out, you may like this little quote of Petronius Arbiter from 200 B.C. as much as I do:
„We trained hard - but it seemed that every time we were beginning to form up into teams we were reorganized. I was to learn later in life that we tend to meet any new situation by reorganizing, and what a wonderful method it can be for creating the illusion of progress while actually producing confusion, inefficiency, and demoralization.“
To me this is a friendly reminder that facing challenges and trying to solve problems with the same kind of measures that lead to them may not be the best idea. The instruments we are used to employ for problem solution are embedded deeply in our thinking and the cultural foundation that was laid much much longer ago than one may be conscious of.
Being aware of this may make a challenging year a fun year!
